Living word for 22-June-2024. Scripture says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

*Ephesians 2:10 teaches and says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”* In this life its very important to know who you are and whose you are plus what your purpose is on this earth. Todays scripture is going to help us address some of these issues. It starts by saying, *”For we are God’s handiwork.”* A *”handiwork”* can mean Work done by the hands, work done personally. Something made using ones own hands. We have all heard of handmade shoes, handmade bags and all, this is the same understanding.

So you and me are a result of Gods handiwork, not anyone else by God. No one else has the power or wisdom or knowledge to make a person in their image except God. So God in his infinite wisdom fashioned you and me the way we are so we belong to God who is our maker. In otherwords like the prophet Jeremiah puts it, *”God is the porter and we are the clay.”* We didn’t decide to appear the way we do, its God who made us this way, in His very own image and likeliness.

It adds, *”created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”* After realising who’s we are, now we get to know why our creator formed us. We were created in Christ Jesus, He is the author and founder of our faith. In Him we live and move and have our being, not anyone else but Christ himself for a sole purpose of doing good works. Basically we are to strive to do good all the time as long as its within our means. The scripture says about Jesus in acts 10:38 that, *”How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”* Jesus went about doing good and we are to follow His very own example.

God knew this task wouldn’t be easy for us and that’s why He gifted us with the *”holy spirit”* to empower and enable us to do good. To do the right thing at the right time. It adds, *”which God prepared in advance for us to do.”* There are things you and me are supposed to do, things like praying for others, visiting the sick and the prisoners, helping the crippled, the blind, the lame, helping people who are less fortunate than we are, blessing others because God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others.

The scripture particularly says, *”God prepared in advance for us to do.”* We have a purpose here only earth, we have work to do for God. We are not here to just sit back and enjoy the journey, no. Remember Jesus commissioned you and me to saying in Matthew 28:18-20 that, *”And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”*

*Fellow child of God, never forget who you are, your a child of God, never forget whose you are. You belong to God created in his very own image, and dont forget your purpose and thats to do good all the time because thats what Jesus did, he went about doing good so we too need to go about doing good..*

Be blessed.
