The scripture teaches us today in phillipians 2:14-15 that, “Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may be blameless and innocent, God’s children without any faults among a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world.” I like the way it starts saying, “do everything without complaing.” It doesnt say do something and then others complain but it says do everything. Whether you like what your doing or not, we are not to complain and this goes to each and everyone of us.
Think of it this way, when your told to do something especially that you dont like, what’s your reaction? Do you simply obey, or do you argue or do you complain? For example when you do something halfhazardly and are told to repeat it, how do you react? We are advised not to complain or argue. Even when your not in wrong, don’t complain or argue. Am not saying it’s simple, but at least give it a try, practice makes perfect. The reason we are given for this is, “so that you may be blameless and innocent.” Arguing or complaining can put you in a compromising situation, your integrity could be questioned, your behavior towards others can come into check, your true character can be unleashed as a result so to avoid all these, simply do as your told willingly without complaining and leave the rest to God.
It adds, “God’s children without any faults among a crooked and perverse generation.” As believers we are Gods children and therefore have to avoid faults amongst us. This generation is full of wrong characters, argumentative people at work and everywhere, people complaining about everything, people grumbling about just anything they are rold to do but we arent to be like that. We are in the world but not of the world so lets not comform to worldly standards.
It adds, “among whom you shine like stars in the world.” In this perverse generation we are to shine like stars. Notice something about stars, they don’t compete to be seen, they don’t complain, they know what and who they are, they know their purpose. This is the same mentality you and i need to develop.
Fellow child of God, Wake up everyday and confess, am a child of the most high God, am a head and not a tail, am blessed beyond curse, am a star, am in the world but not of the world, big is He that is in me than is in the world, no weapon fashioned against me can prosper and more than a conqueror and i can do all things through Christ who gives me strength in Jesus’ mighty name.
