Living word for 19th-June-2024. Scripture says, “Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.”

There are various characters in scripture who we learn from today we learn about king Saul. The scripture teaches in 1chronicles 10:13-14 that, “Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord;” Lets first pause here and learn from this, so King Saul died for a reason and thats because he was unfaithful to the Lord. So in serving God and in this journey of salvation, faithfuless is required, we have to be faithful to God, faithful in our dealing and also faithful to people. To be faithful simply means to be full of faith so the question is, Are you faithful to God? To have faith in God is to have complete trust in him and not anybody or anything else. Saul didn’t trust the Lord completely and this was one of his flaws.

We are given the reason why Saul was regarded as unfaithful, scripture adds and says, “he did not keep the word of the lord.” Did you catch that, he didn’t keep the word of the Lord, so the word of the Lord is supposed to be kept, not just heard and left there, not just read and left there but meditated on and kept in the heart and practiced, thats what it means to keep the word of God. Much as samuel kept bringing the word of God to Saul, he just listened but didnt keep this word to heart to do what it says. We need to learn that when God tells you to do something, do exactly that, not something similar or close to but that exactly. When the Lord told King Saul to kill all the amalekites and everything that belonged to them but Saul spared king Agag and the best sheep and oxen contrary to the word of the Lord.

It adds , “and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not enquire of the Lord.” He reached an extent of even consulting a medium for guidance, a medium is, “Someone who supposedly conveys information from the spirit world or a foreseer, or a traditional healer, or a witch doctor, or like going to a shrine, yes, if your that minded then your heading the path of King Saul.” Since he was unfaithful God wasnt communicating with him anymore so in panic and anxiety scripture says in 1Samuel 28:5-8 that, “When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart. He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets. Saul then said to his attendants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her.” “There is one in Endor,” they said. So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men went to the woman. “Consult a spirit for me,” he said, “and bring up for me the one I name.”

No matter what you might be going through or how silent God is to your prayers or cries dont make the mistake of trying to consult mediums. It adds,
“and did not enquire of the Lord.”
Instead of enquiring of the Lord king Saul instead consulted mediums to revive the spirit of Samuel. Where do you run to first when you get a problem? Is it to a shrine or is it to God. Scripture says we should take our strong reasons unto God, He has all the solutions, nothing is impossible for our God. It ends by saying, “So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.” Those reasons in today’s scripture led to King saul being put to death and turning the kingdom away from him and over to David son of Jesse.

Fellow child of God, let’s be faithful to God, let’s be obedient to His word, let us not consult mediums but instead consult God and we shall be blessed beyond curse in Jesus’ mighty name.

Be blessed.
