Living word for 17-June-2024. Scripture says, “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”

*The scripture teaches today in Micah 7:18 that, “Who is a God like you,”* Lets first pause here and understand the writers mind, he asks and says, who is a God like you? Meaning he had seen the things God had done and continues to do and had also seen and heard about other Gods but there was none like the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He gives us his reasons next so lets study it and see.

*”who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?”* The difference between other people is that this God first of all “pardons sin and forgives transgressions” This goes without that other people dont purdon, other people dont forgive but our God isnt like that. *To purdon means, “to refrain from exacting as a purnishment.”* This means for our sins we deserve purnishment because the wages of sin is death but God pardons our sins and cancels thd purnishment. God doesnt stop there, he also forgives the remnant of his inheritance. *The word remnant means, “a small portion remaining of a larger group.”*  No wonder many are called but few are chosen, God knows there a few people who make the decision to.follow him.

*It adds, “you do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”* Hallelujah, what a God we serve, our God gets angry yes because He is a jealous God but the difference is He doesnt stay angry forever. People can stay angry with you but our God doesnt, this is why we are advised not to let the sun go down while we are still angry. God delights to show mercy, *a delight is, “something that gives great joy or pleasure.”* So showing mercy gives God great joy and delight. *This is why scripture says God is not willing that anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”*

*Fellow child of God, todays devotion teaches us both the nature and character of God. A God who pardons, a forgiving God, one who doesnt stay angry forever and one who desires to show mercy. This is what we should also do so that we make God manifest on this earth. What an awesome God that we serve, praise and worship.*
