Living wors for 14-June-2024. Scripture says, “One day, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat. He told them, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they started out. Now as they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep. A violent storm swept over the lake, and they were taking on water and were in great danger. So his disciples went to him, woke him up, and kept telling him, “Master! Master! We’re going to die!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves. They stopped, and there was calm.”

*Luke 8:22-24 says, “One day, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat. He told them, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they started out.* Just like any normal day, the disciples got into a boat, remember most of them were fishermen before, and Jesus tells them they should cross over to the other side of the lake and they started out meaning they got moving. Am trying to imagine the sin, fitting myself into this story so we ask ourselves some questions along the way and learn more.

*It adds, “Now as they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep.”* Wait a minute, Jesus fell asleep as they were sailing, was he so tired, how could they let Jesus sleep while they were awake? Couldnt they engage him with some questions about his teachings or something. I mean they were twelve of them, they could have atleast asked him some questions. This is the danger many of us face, we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior but then leave it at that and dont engage him and make him sleep. We make him inactive, we deny him the power and thus we look like other people who havent accepted him. When Jesus is asleep in our lives we are most likely to get problems and this is what happened to the disciples.

*It adds, “A violent storm swept over the lake, and they were taking on water and were in great danger.”* Because Jesus is asleep the enemy gains access and comes through a violent storm sweeping over the lake, it could be a sickness, a financial situation, a challenge of sorts and thus causes great danger. This is why people come to church and still get problems, people come to church and still face challenges, people come to church but their lives arent transformed. They accepted Jesus but there is no evidence of his presence in their lives, he is asleep. They allowed Jesus to sleep by not praying, not reading the word and not doing what Jesus says so the enemy strikes and danger comes in.

*It adds, “So his disciples went to him, woke him up, and kept telling him, “Master! Master! We’re going to die!”* After danger has already come, they remember to wake up Jesus, this is a habit of most of us, after the problem comes we start praying, we hope from church to church to be counseled and prayed for. *We forget that if Jesus had been awake, this storm couldnt have even come, remember while men slept, the enemy sowed tares among the wheat. Being fishermen they knew the danger of storms so in great panic and fear of death, they wake up Jesus even saying they were going to die. How do you die prematurely when you have Jesus?*

*It ends by saying, “He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves. They stopped, and there was calm.”* The good news is that God is never too late, even when we faulter, Gods grace and mercy still speak for us and he can turn any situation around. Jesus in an instant rebuked the storm and there was a great calm and your situation isnt any different. *There is nothing too hard or impossible for our God, He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all things that we ask or think.*

*Fellow child of God, have you taken the bold step to accept Jesus? If not then please do, if yes then is Jesus awake or asleep in your life? This is witnessed by the events around your life. Keep Jesus awake in the boat of your heart by reading his word, practicing the word and meditating on it night and day, this way the enemy will not access you to bring storms or challenges in your life.*

Be blessed
