Living word for 01-June-2024. Scripture says, “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

The scripture teaches today in 1Corinthians 10:12-13 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” This scripture reveals a deep problem that many of us face and thats self righteousness, the scrioture describes it as, “if you think you are standing firm” thinking that you know it all, thinking your the only one with bible revelation, thinking and putting yourself above all, the warning is that you should be careful that you dont fall. So there is danger of falling especially falling into willful temptations because your you cannot step on hot coals and not get burnt.

It adds and says, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.” This means temptations will come, they are all common to makind. The devil is always on the look out tempting believers because scrioture says in 1Peter 5:8 that, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” He is always look for who to tempt and devour as a result through the common methods. This shouldnt worry us because, “And God is faithful;” Did you catch that, God is faithful, thats his nature and to proove thay he is faithful the scripture adds and says.

“he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.” God cannot make the mistake of letting you or allowing the devil yo tempt you beyond what you can bear this means the temptations that God accepts to come our way are common and he knows we can overcome them. They are not beyond what we can bear. It adds and says, “But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” Whenever a temptation comes our way God will also provide a way out of it so you can endure it. Not forego it but endure it, the word endure means God will give you the strength, the wisdom, the ability and power to overcome that temptation.

Take the example of Job, the devil took all he had, his possesions and even his children and was tempted to curse God but he endured it and God strengthened him through it and as such came out of it better and even stronger. God gave him back double of all he had before.

Fellow child of God, at a certain point temptations will come our way but they are the common ones but we should remeber that God is faithful, he will provide a way of us enduring this temptation and coming out stronger from it.
